A Message from the CEO

Men, It’s Time to Man Up.

It’s time for men to step up to the plate when it comes to taking care of their health. Compared to women, men are more likely to drink alcohol, use tobacco and put off seeing a healthcare provider for regular checkups. These factors make men more likely to suffer from heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer. Decreasing these risks starts with two simple steps. First, live a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, a healthy diet, moderate alcohol consumption and no smoking. In addition, have regular medical checkups and screening tests that detect diseases early, when treatment is much more effective. This issue of My Hometown Health is dedicated to providing the information men need to live healthier and longer lives, and as always, Hometown Hospital has the services, resources and expertise to help every step of the way— all close to home.
