Are You at Risk?
Some risk factors for heart disease, such as growing older or a family history of the disease can’t be changed. But fortunately, there are risk factors you can control:
High blood pressure (HBP): HBP is known as the Silent Killer because it can go undetected for years. That’s the reason it’s so important to have your blood pressure checked regularly.
High cholesterol: Too much bad cholesterol, called LDL, narrows the arteries and makes them less flexible.
Other controllable risk factors include:
• Smoking
• Lack of Exercise
• Diabetes
• Being Overweight
