Avoiding Sunburn

Just about everybody has experienced the red, painful skin that is the tell-tale sign of sunburn. Caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation, usually from the sun’s rays, sunburn is more than just an uncomfortable condition. Extreme sunburn can be life-threatening. Sunburn is also known to cause premature aging of the skin and increase the risk for skin cancer. The best way to avoid sunburn is to cover your arms and legs with clothing when you’re outside and wear a broad-brimmed hat. You can also apply sunscreen to exposed skin. And remember, you can still get sunburned on a cloudy day.
