The majority of adults 60 and older will experience this medical condition. here's Dr. Firstname M. Lastname, an Ophthalmologist with Medical Center/Hospital, with some revolutionary treatment information.

What are cataracts?

Cataracts are the gradual clouding of the crystalline lens of the eye. Most people will develop cataracts at some point in their life, although it usually affects people 60 and older.

What are the symptoms of cataracts?

Typical symptoms include seeing halos or starbursts around lights and difficulty reading road signs or reading in general. People with cataracts often feel like they're looking through fog or dirty windows. Colors are often distorted: whites may appear yellowish or gray.

What is the no needle, no stitch, no patch cataract surgery?

It's exactly what it says. No needle: we use a powerful topical anesthetic. No stitch: the tiny opening used to remove the cataract seals naturally because of the eyes resilient healing ability. This seal is actually two and a half times stronger than the technique used in traditional surgery. No patch: Most patients are able to return to their normal activities the same day without an eye patch.

Are there any side effects?

The patient is awake during the procedure but feels no pain due to the effectiveness of the topical anesthetic. Grogginess and nausea, typical side effects associated with conventional surgery, do not result from no needle, no stitch, no patch cataract surgery.

How effective is the surgery?

More than 98 percent of our surgical patients have noted marked improvement in their vision.
