CEO Message: Being Angelina

About five months ago, Angelina Jolie made national headlines by announcing she had undergone a preventive double mastectomy. The Academy Award-winning actress made the decision after learning that she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation, which gave her up to a 60 percent chance of developing breast cancer. Fortunately, less than one percent of women actually have this particular gene mutation. But when it comes to developing breast cancer, the odds for women are not nearly as favorable. One in eight American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. That’s the reason Main Street Hospital provides a wide range of comprehensive services for both the detection and treatment of this all-too-common disease. We give women the tools, the technology and the expertise so, just like Angelina Jolie, they can take action and make informed decisions in the fight against breast cancer.
