So, You’re Going to be a Grandparent

So, You’re Going To Be A Grandparent? Think Safety!

Congratulations! Being a grandparent is one of the great joys of life. It’s also an opportunity to share your wisdom about raising kids, especially if your son or daughter is a first-time parent. After all, this isn’t your first rodeo when it comes to babies and toddlers. With September being Baby Safety Month, here are a few reminder tips to make sure your home and car are baby safe.

Bathroom: Never leave an infant or child alone in or near a bathtub. Even a small amount of water is dangerous. Don’t be tempted by the phone or doorbell ringing. And always make sure the water temperature is lukewarm. Car: Make sure the car seat is properly installed. Remember, infants must ride in rear-facing car seats until they are 1 year old and weigh more than 20 pounds.

Pets: Never leave an infant or toddler alone with a pet. Babies can make sudden moves that can provoke even a tame dog or cat. Kitchen: Keep cleaning products, solvents and any other dangerous products in a childproof cabinet or out of reach.

Windows: Keep cribs and beds away from windows and make sure curtain strings and blinds are out of reach.
