You CAN’T Feel It In Your Bones
A Bone Density Test Is The ONLY Way To Check for Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a common medical condition that causes bone tissue to deteriorate. It’s often called the “Silent Disease” because it has no symptoms. The first time most people are aware that they have osteoporosis is when they break a bone.

It’s estimated that 44 million Americans have osteoporosis (including 55 percent of people over the age of 50), but only a small percentage have actually been diagnosed. The only way to detect osteoporosis is to have a bone density test, a noninvasive, painless procedure that measures the strength of your bones and determines your risk for fractures. These tests are available on an out patient basis here at our hospital. So. if you are older than 50 and especially if you are a woman (80 percent of people with osteoporosis are female), contact your personal physician and find out if a bone density test is right for you!
